As a 30-year resident of Pflugerville, Renae has spent the last 15 years actively involved in the school district as a volunteer, leader and a parent. She has served as PTO President for Brookhollow Elementary School and Cele Middle School. During that time, she focused on students performing below grade level and creating programs to ensure students succeed in advancing to the next grade level as scheduled. Renae also served at Hendrickson High School as a Booster Club President who raised more than $30,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors. During this time, she also served as a leader in the local soccer league, baseball league and the area girl scouts’ council.
Renae is truly committed to the Pflugerville Independent School District and this community. She is a graduate of the Leadership Pflugerville Program. She serves on the boards of the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, the Pflugerville Education Foundation, and the Pflugerville Planning and Zoning Commission. She does all this while running a successful Pflugerville business.
Renae earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Communications from Southeastern Louisiana University. She also earned her Masters of Business/Masters of Education degree at UT Austin from the McCombs School of Business. She has worked in the public and private sector for over 25 years in Human Resources Management and Business Development. Renae is the Developer and owner of Magnolia Ranch Estates. She is married to Oscar R. Mitchell and their son Reid is a 2012 graduate of Hendrickson High School and is currently studying Environmental Engineering at Rice University. Their daughter Reece is a 6th grader at Cele Middle School. Renae is a leader in the Marriage Ministry and among the Deacon wives at Abundant Life Community Church lead by Pastor DeChard Freeman.
As a parent in the Pflugerville school district, she has a passion for creating an environment where students thrive and learn how to make a difference in their world.
